Old-Time Popcorn Balls

Ingredients: |
2 cups granulated sugar |
1 1/2 cups water |
1/2 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup light corn syrup |
1 teaspoon vinegar |
1 teaspoon vanilla |
5 quarts popped corn |
Directions: |
1) Butter sides of saucepan |
2) In saucepan combine sugar, water, salt, syrup, and vinegar |
3) Cook to hard ball stage (250 degrees) |
4) Stir in vanilla |
5) Slowly pour over popped corn, stirring just to mix well. |
6) Butter hands lightly or wear latex gloves and apply cooking spray |
7) Shape into 15 to 20 balls |
